le voyage

"Paris is always a good idea." -Audrey Hepburn

I believe you can travel without any end purpose in mind, however, as a financially struggling 20s something, it is much easier to justify my adventures by pairing them with productive purposes.

While in Paris, I will be taking a TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certification course. Five days a week, 8 hours a day, I will be switching roles between student and teacher. The end result, I will be certified to teach English to non-speakers overseas. This is precisely what I did in Tanzania, but it was a volunteer position rather than a paid position. Will I ever put this certification to use? Honestly, I'm not quite sure. But, at least I will have some paperwork to back me up next time I want to plan a foreign escape!

"There is but one Paris and however hard living may be here, and if it became worse and harder even—the French air clears up the brain and does good—a world of good.”
-Vincent van Gogh

Of course, since I am traveling to one of the most popular cities in the world, my agenda doesn't cut off at the course. I plan to sightsee, shop, possibly learn how to cook, defintely learn how to dine on a chic budget. I plan to roam, to get lost, wander the streets with some wine and french baguettes.  Since my only other worldly experience took place in a third-world village, I started off with the connotations that this trip would be less demanding and offer more freedom.

The French language is beginning to challenge that assumption.
